Since October 2006, I have recieved $700 in overdraft fees which makes my account balance -643.00 today. I contacted them, and they gave me a $43 credit, but that is nothing compared to the money they have already recieved in overdraft (around $1600.00) last year. I know that I manipulate the fees, but most were legitimate oversights and when they fee was given, my account was overdrawn by less than a dollar.. How can I get them to reduce the fees signifacantly enough to reduce my total debt?

92,

I used to work for Wells Fargo. I hated working there after seeing how they stole money from their customers. I reversed fees every chance I got, to the point where I was written up for doing so (banks make a LOT of money on fees).

Try calling them over and over until you find someone who will reverse them for you.

Good luck!

yes, i agree with the guy who said to go see them in person. they are extremely difficult to work with on the phone. In our experience, Bank of America called us at least once a week when we were in overdraft. AND, for example, if you have 2 checks posting at the same time, they'll post the larger one which will bounce and cause a NSF fee. Then the smaller check will also bounce, hence, they get two NSF fees. That bank is evil.
on the other hand, i think we should just try to be a little more responsible, dont you think?!

Does bank of america have overdraft protection? it may have been in your best interest to apply for this cuz it seems like you overdraft alot. Or maybe take a look at your finances before you write checks and use your debit card.

I hate to say it but Bank of America is the WORST about NOT working with their customers. They were the only bank not willing to work with me through some very difficult financial problems I was having.
Good Luck.

Let me tell you that the same situation happened to me, and honestly, it will be really difficult to make them reduce them, but if you are lucky, you could.
Go and speak in person to the customer service manager from any bank of America, and tell them your situation, he/she might be able to tweak the system and give you some of that money back.
Do not call them, they are really bad on the phone.

Good luck!!

you can't. you really need to balance your checkbook and make sure you have enough money in your account before you spend money. it's really your responsibility to take care of your money. bank of america is in the business of making money and any opportunity they have to get your money, they will. don't give it to them by being responsible. sorry to hear this.
