One of my old teachers showed us this gooey stuff once that she spread all over the back (or front??) of a photocopy and rubbed onto another piece of paper real well, producing a replica of the photocopy.

Recently I saw a movie where a girl was doing this with some photocopies and canvas.

What is this stuff called and how do I use it?!

Another (non-toxic) option is gel medium (clear acrylic paint) --smear it on the front, put it face down onto your canvas, rub the back (using the back of a spoon works well), peel off. Use a bit of water and your fingers to get off any bits of paper after it has dried.

Another way to do this is to coat the front of the photocopy with a half dozen or so layers (let it dry in-between coats), soak the paper in water and peel the paper off the back. You end up with a clear acrylic piece with the image imbedded that you can use forward or backward, or stretch, or cut up, or stick temporarily to windows!

Ask the people who do T-shirts with your photo. They surely know and can give you professional advice.
