Maybe they just like how it they look in their bookcase or something.It's really kind of pointless now unless they don't have internet.

Do you mean the books, the CDs, or subscribing to the online service?

I agree, the books seem rather outmoded in this day and age, when facts and figures change so rapidly.

But the CDs and online services can help with basic research for homework and the like, and can be quite useful.

i don't know, maybe because it gives more information then the online encyclopedia
