Why does my VCR eject tapes by itself and how can I fix it?

I only use it to record tv shows when I'm not home. I have it set for timer recording with the tape loaded and out of nowhere it will eject the tape even though the VCR isn't turned on.

If the tape is full or if the safety tabs are broken at the back of the VCR tape, then the VCR will automatically eject the tape.

You probably need to either get it fixed or buy a new one. VCRs tend to start doing things like that shortly before they go insane and begin eating tapes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Replace it or get it repaired.
