That depends. Did you lift too much, for too long, or has it been a while since you've given your legs a good workout?
If you lifted too much or for too long, you could have some microscopic tears, which could be where the pain comes from. It will heal itself, but it should be taken as a sign that you should modify your workout. Eat some protein as protein is the thing that will help repair muscles. It's not the cure all, but it might help some, along with a little bit of rest.
Chances are though, if it has been a while since your last workout, or if you're trying to get into a routine, you have Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. The attached article should help explain some of what DOMS is. Either way, it should heal itself if you don't push too hard.

The soreness is caused by the release of lactic acid from the muscles during a workout. If this feels like muscle soreness, this is what it likely is. The soreness can persist for a long time, until the muscles get replenished with the lactic acid. There is one quick way to replenish it. E mail me for a web address. The other way is to wait it out. If you think you injured yourself while working out, please see a doctor.

Yes, it's normal. The second day was always the worst for me. Stretching after you exercise helps. Also a nice soak on a hot tub. Take ibuprofen if needed.

yes..it is completely normal infact this pain is caused beause of the sudden pressure you have started applying on your muscles because of which the muscle tends to pressurise and release more of a chemical compund known as lactic acid because of which it causes soreness in your legs
