Well, im a girl so i have the same idea of you. It depends. if this guy is a really rude guy, then trust yourself. If you steal have feelings for him, then tell him that. Just because someone breaks up doesnt mean that they are like rivals or something, My friend Keirsta was a really nice peorson. We always were friends since kinder. One day in 5th grade we had a huge fight! Just huuuuuge! Now keirsta and i both talk to each other. I mean its okay right?! We were friends, and now even if shes not mried hard. y BEST friend, I stilll love her for all the fun that we had and laughs that we shared. She never forgave me. I asked constantly if she would forget everything that happened but i had left a mark on her. 2 weeks ago as i pass down Londons crowded streats I think about her, but a week ago i went to america. Utah, i went with my freind. We are still teens and she goes to the same school. I saw her. I cried. I hugged her and she forgave me. I laughed and cried so hard! We are now friends. I live in England! But we still chat with eachother whenever we can. We are still friends, so I think that that can happen with you and your BF. I mean England-Utah. Anything can happen!

Well, I am talking about ex spouses here, not ex bf/gf's. Still, my fiance and his ex wife are not exactly friends, but they get along. It took 6 years, but they can now communicate and interact, even sit together at their children's sporting events and be civil and friendly. She and I even get along pretty well. My ex husband on the other hand, is so incredibly hateful toward me, even though he is the cause of our breakup because of his abuse and cruelty. I have tried to be friends with him only for the sake of our children, but he absolutely refuses.
If you still have feelings for your ex who broke up with you, then it is better for you not to remain friends with him. You will only be setting yourself up to be continually hurt. If the breakup had been a mutual decision, then that would be another story. If someone doesn't realize what a wonderful person you are and doesn't appreciate the qualities that you have to offer, trust me, you are better off without him. Once you are over him, and have moved on, with or without another boyfriend, then that would be the time to think about whether or not you want to be friends. Until that time, it only gives your ex the idea that you are feeling desperate and can actually hinder any friendship you two may have if he thinks you are trying to win him back after he was the one who broke up with you. You deserve better, really. I don't know who the "everyone" is that you mentioned in your question, but if they are your friends or family, then listen to them - they know you best and they care about you.

Why on earth would it be bad to stay friends with someone?
In my opinion, if you are leaving each other amicably and there are no heard feelings either way, then I don't see why you can stay friends.
However, it should be understood that you should not be hanging on with him just in the hopes that you may get back together. That is not healthy for you, since you will be closing your eyes to other people.
Also, if he gets a new girlfriend, what will happen when you meet here or run into her? Hopefully you won't say or do anything to wreck your friendship with the ex.

If you're friends say he doesnt deserve your friendship, then he must have done something bad? If this is the case, then no. Simple. However, if your friends are only annoyed because he dumped you, then yes, try and stay friends. At the end of the day, its up to you.

I'm friends with just about every man I was in a relationship with. Its really hard at first with the emotions but if you can get past them you will probably have a friend for life. I give my ex's dating advice and they give it back to me. They know me better than any one else so ex's can be the greatest for advise. Plus they will always watch out for you and then later on down the road they will realize what they gave up but be glad for your friendship.

Depends. If you think you still might have 'feelings' feelings for him, no way. Not now. You'll never heal that way. Maybe later, on down the ilne, you can open that door. Just not now.
If you just like/appreciate the guy and the breaking up was just an inevitable it's not happening kind of thing, then go for it. Just remember ex's are ex's for a reason and don't go getting back together.

That has to be your call, your the only one that knows the situation and how you feel. My personal opinion is that an Ex is an Ex for a reason, and friendship would never work out.

Depend on what the situation is i am still good with some exs but others i can't stand
like lets say he cheated on you or abused u or something along those lines then you probly should stay with him
but if u maybe say didn't feel the same way anymore or u didn't agree on something ans split then it would probly be fine for you to say friends as long as you don't get jealous of the others new girl friend or something like that

My ex continues to be actual my terrific pal....even after he broke my heart! yet to confirm that this to run easily You the two might desire to forgive one yet another for what ever became performed whilst interior the relationship! of direction i nevertheless have thoughts for him, yet no one is well-known with me the way he does, and hence we stick around one yet another! do no longer fool your self nor him by ability of announcing which you do in comparison to him! enable him comprehend! yet do no longer stay acquaintances with him in desire you may some how "relight an previous flame" considering the fact which you're able to easily finally end up hurting your self much greater! Take it one step at a time

FORGET ABOUT WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE SAY ITS ABOUT YOU AND HIM,BEING FRIENDS WITH YOUR EX IS OK AS LONG AS THOSE ARE THE TERMS,JUST FRIENDS.IF YOU STILL HAVE FEELINGS FOR HIM AND HE DONT FEEL THE SAME THEN THIS COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM FOR YOU NOT HIM HOW? YOU WOULD BE AROUND HIM ALL THE TIME AND IF ONLY IF HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND THEN IF SHE REALLY LOVES HIM SHE IS GOING TO BE THREATENED BY YOUR PRESENCE OF BEING AROUND HIM WHEN SHE IS NT AROUND AND THIS ACTION ALONE WILL MAKE HER RETALIATE,OR FIGHT TO SAVE WHAT SHE HAS. BUT IN CLOSING THE FEELING NEED TO BE MUTUAL BETWEEN THE BOTH OF YOU.
