At least we'll have mom, dad, and grandma too.Already making a book with scratch and sniff stickers -even giving up some from my old school collection. Will get a new lift the flap book or two also. Any other ideas (besides benedryl - its 3 hours!)

I'm a veteran of 8-10 hour flights with a child, since my husband is British and all the in-laws live there. I found a great lift the flap book where you could slide in your own pictures; apparently there is nothing funnier to a two year old than seeing Nana's face on the monkey up in the tree. My son was also obsessesd for several years with the seatback emergency cards. Because he could "read" them without being able to read, I guess. He would spend literally hours looking at the pictures, matching up the emergency exits with the ones he could see, etc. Any magnetic toy is also good since parts don't go missing. We had boards with farm animals, firemen, etc. The background was a picture scene and each animal/person stuck to it magnetically. Be sure to take snacks, favorite stuffed animal, blankie, whatever comforts your children. If you can get the bulkhead, your kids have a little wiggle room in front of your feet, but then your carryons have to be stored overhead, which makes it harder to easily access their toys. You sound "crafty," can you make a little scrapbook that tells the story of their trip before it happens...here's our house, the car to the airport, the plane, the hotel we're staying at, etc., so they can see the journey's end. Have a great time, some of our best family stories are the result of plane rides.

My step-daughters who are almost 2 and almost 3 love the 'magna-doodle' or "Aqua-Doodle" drawing boards. They are so nice because there are no pieces, and the "pen" is attatched. They can write and draw, and they love to watch mommy and daddy write things too!
