Monica Ramos, the wife of one of two U.S. Border Patrol agents imprisoned last week for wounding an escaping drug smuggler, attended the State of the Union speech in person last night – and was sharply critical of President Bush, calling him a hypocrite and worse.

Ramos, wife of Border Patrol agent Ignacio Ramos, attended the event as a guest of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif.

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean began prison sentences last week, of 11 and 12 years respectively, for their actions in the shooting and wounding of a Mexican drug smuggler who was granted full immunity to testify against them.

At the conclusion of the speech, Ramos, emotional and in tears, told WND in an exclusive interview, that she considered President Bush's speech compete hypocrisy.

"How could President Bush say that he wanted to secure our borders and that he would double the size of the Border Patrol when my husband is in prison," she asked WND. "Ignacio was trying to secure our border from drug smugglers. And what do we get? I have to show my children their father in prison in chains and I have to explain to them that the president of the United States is a liar."

President Bush can say all he wants that the solution to border security is new infrastructure and technology," Ramos told WND, "but as long as my husband is in jail the American people should know that President Bush doesn't mean a word he says."

I totally agree with Mrs.Ramos.....

Free the El Paso Two
Pardons and reinstatement with back pay

This known drug dealers was stopped with over 700 lbs of drugs
he fought with the agents and ran, they shot him in his butt.Several days later his mother called from Mexico and complained. The ignorant US prosecutor in El Paso filed charges against the two agents simply for doing their job. They gave the drug dealer immunity to testify against the agents They were convicted although 3 of the jury later admitted they were coerced into saying guilty. While still under immunity the drug dealer got caught again this time with over 1000 lbs of drugs.Because he was still under immunity he was let go.The two agents are in prison .

I salute the men and women of the border patrol. They have a tough and thankless job to do. I don't know the details of the case, however. If we had a sensible and realistic immigration policy there would be no need to double the size of the border patrol because law abiding families would be able to come over to work in those states that had a surplus of jobs, and those who employed undocumented workers would be in jail. Politicians will do whatever gets them the most votes, and in the absence of that (as is the case with President Bush), whatever makes them the most money. I don't see anything wrong with telling a child the truth from the beginning. Believe in the Bible not the Pope, believe in the Constitution, not the President. Truth should always trump patriotism, and skepticism is even more of a virtue than faith.

No...we shouldn't change anything. There is North America, South America, and Central America (which is actually part of N. America). By the way, the reason Mexico and Central America are considered part of the North American continent is because the amount of land connecting them to each other and the US is considerably greater than the connection to South America. The only reason that the United States is sometimes referred to as "America" is that the country's official name is the United States of America. That's why people from that country are referred to as Americans and the country's name is sometimes abbreviated to America. The term "america" is a historical thing. No country - the USA included - is special enough to warrant the renaming and restructuring of entire continents.

It seems to me like there is more to the story than is published.
WHy was this lady at the State of The Union address for? She actually got to witness the speech in person? Wow, I've never been asked to attend anything like that, and I worked for the government for 13 years. She should be grateful that she was able to be there. Not many ordinary people get invited to witness history in the making. Too bad about her husband. i don't like the illegals coming over here either, but I think there is a lot about what these guys did, that what we are not allowed to hear. I think that if all the border patrol starts shooting people who are running away, then ther might be a bigger escalation of hostilities on the border. Just a thought. I would have been happy with guys getting fired, but they got what their peers said they should get.

I wanted to throw-up when I heard what he said. He's been going to double the agents at the border for a long time now. He said to run the drug smugglers down but yet they aren't supposed to? It's total doo-whacky. I agree....it's a total sell out.
