Will be visiting in May 2007 and trying to find a good safe location and reasonable priced for a family of 4.

I would suggest an Embassy Suites. They are a full suite hotel, so you and your spouse can have a bedroom and the kids can have a pull out bed in the livingroom. They usually offer a "Nicolodean rate" which includes a back pack and toys for the kids. They also offer a full cook to order breakfast. There is one at 1250 22St NW that I book for my clients all the time.
Westins are very nice, too and most offer a program for kids. There is the Westin Grand and Westin Embassy Row in the city itself.

You could try the Residence Inn by Marriott. They have locations in Alexandria and Pentagon City. Another option is Washington Suites in Alexandria. They're both the types of hotels with the kitchens in them, and you could save some money by cooking at the hotel.

Well I run a storage place in Sterling and the market right now is crazy. No one seems be be buying houses. I live just 5 minutes from the dulles airport. It is very expensive to live here but right now you may be able to get a great deal on a house. I know a few realtors if you want thier numbers just ask and if you need storage just email me and I can send you all the info

The Ritz-Carlton on 22nd st has rooms starting at under $400/night...a really good value...They also have a nice kids program..Have fun!
