Your friend really needs help. They say the cutting distracts her from what is really bothering her. It is extremely dangerous. She could accidentally or even on purpose cut an artery and bleed to death. No to mention the possibility of infection. She is a candidate for suicide at this rate. She needs help and so does her mom. Mental cruelty is just as bad as physical abuse. You really need to talk your friend into talking to someone. Let her know it isn't okay for the way her mother talks to her. Also let her know that you truly care about what happens to her. As for her being Emo....she is just hurting inside and out. Try to get her to get help.

EMO is a trend that is going around the world like wildfire. Tell her to see a therapist and see her doctor for anti-depressants. This cutting because you're an 'emo' is ridiculous and a stupid fad that teenagers get into. Tell her to listen to some real music, stop being like everyone else who is 'emo' to fit in. Sort her problems out with her Mum like a mature person through communication. Cutting can be addictive and too many REAL self harmers are ignored because of this stupid trend of 'emoness'.

Yes cutting is addictive. I am addicted to it. And yes it is very hard to stop. So help your friend out and don't put too much pressure on her about it. Try and help her while she is feeling down by talking to her about something funny or happy and it might change her mood. Just be sure to tell her how you feel about it and not tell her that she HAS to stop. Or she may do it more. Email me if u have any ?s.

Honestly, I think they you should tell your health teacher, or at least another responsible adult. Your friend may just be saying that she is doing these things for attention, but if you choose not to believe her, you may be risking her safety. If it does turn out that your friend really was only claiming this for attention, bringing an adult in to the situation may teach her that it is never okay to lie about something as serious as cutting.

Yes cutting can be addictive but if you try talking to a teacher or someone about it you can get her help before this goes too far.

slap her in the face and tell her there is no such thing as emo. This is because "emo" is BS, and anyone claiming it needs to be slapped in the face.
oh and have her check out this video
