Even if you were married on the last day of 2006, you are still considered married for the entire 2006 tax year.
Married couple has choice to file either separately or jointly. It is almost always more beneficial to file jointly because many credits and deductions are not available if file separately.
Best wishes.

Your choices are married filing separately and married filing jointly. MFJ is usually better. The only way to be sure id to fill out the forms both ways and compare. Most tax software can do the comparison for you.

You can go either way, but most people will pay much less tax by filing a joint return. Your marital status on Dec 31 is what determines your status for the entire year.

You could file married jointly (this is also the better choice as you will get more money for particular reasons). We filed our taxes at www.expresstaxrefund.com and had my refund ready within minutes.

As long as you are married one day in the tax year (i.e. December 31), you are considered married the entire year.

Joint I believe. Might differ depending on where you live. Where I live, in cali, it would be joint because you have been married for half of the year!
