Hitler and his "little party" were considered benign too. . .

"On April 1, 1924 Hitler was sentenced to five years' imprisonment at Landsberg Prison for the crime of conspiracy to commit treason. Hitler received favoured treatment from the guards and had much fan mail from admirers. Hitler was released on December 20, 1924 after the authorities decided that he was not a danger to the public. Including remand, he had served just over one year of his five-year sentence."--whether it will happen again or not, doesn't matter; one does not have to be an Atheist to learn from the history.
I hope it helps.

The first question to ask might better be "Are atheists afraid of "like some fascist" (sic) Christian movement."

Before we answer that we would have to determine who we mean by atheists and whether the people who fit that definition are afraid, and if so, are they afraid of "like some fascist" (sic) Christian movement.

Perhaps having got that far, we could determine whether they are afraid of a movement that will never happen.

We are all afraid of those things that we don't understand and usually cause others to be afraid of those things. What I have never understood is why anyone that does not accept the beliefs of christians or any other religion carries on about it so much. If this group of people know without a doubt that religion is a sham, why not just leave it alone and let others believe as they will. Christianity scares people because it is based in an awful lot of fact and history. This gives it a possibility of truth. So they berate anyone that believes in it; because may God forbid they may actually be wrong. My faith is personal and comforting to me. I will never apologize or deny it. If someone has a problem with that; well that is their problem not mine. I hope God blesses them anyway. God's word tells me to forgive my enemies. Jesus tells us to love them. So out of respect for all others that do not believe as I do. I promise not to ridicule or denegrate your faith or lack of if you can do the same for me.

Because its already happened; read your history. christians used to burn people at the stake, etc for their beliefs and ideas. Seriously, I think that is why atheists and even religious evolutionists are so adament.

Seriously, when I see questions here like "Is it time for the next Crusade" -- meaning lets make Iraq our own holy war, that kind of mentality is really, really dangerous. Since we know what happened in Nazi Germany to a country that had just produced world renowned philosophers and eminent scientists; why shouldn't we be afraid. Listen to yourselves.

What some people don't grasp is that atheists are not a group of people, like Baptists, or Catholics. They are a non-group, so why do people keep referring to them as if they are all together?
As to your question. You don't need to call yourself a fascist to be one, or in fact, to influence the economy or education system of a country. What the US has is a leader whose beliefs blind him to reality, and who is facing a desperate revolt from within his own party as they try to limit his power.

It's not fascism, but it is Christian influence, isn't it?

Wouldn't you be? Besides, there already was a fascist Atheist movement of sorts, so why couldn't it happen?

I think it maybe based on the history of Christianity and its willingness to brutally kill anyone who thought a slight bit different you have to remember every evil thing that Muslims are doing now Christians have been doing for the last 1000+ years

How many more abortion providers will be shut down before you realize that it IS happening?

How many more schools will not speak openly about evolution so as to not offend the Christians?

How many more wars will our president start after saying God told him to invade?

How much more science will be outlawed so we can protect the lives of single cells [stem cell research]?

Because the original fascism WAS a Christian movement and there is no guarantee that it won't happen again.
