I have a cat that is rougly 6 or 7 months old. Since the day I got him he has been glued to me. He drives me crazy. When I get home from work, he's at the door right where he was before I left in the same spot, when I go take a shower he's right there. When I go to bed and I wake up in the middle of the night he's laying on my chest or up on my neck. He is stuck to me like glue. I push him away and he comes right back. I spray him with water, he's right there again. Any suggestions????

Other people live in my house as well. He will not go by anyone else and he has plenty of toys to play with and even a little area in my room where he has a cat tree I think it is called that goes all the way to the ceiling.

Its not that I don't want him around it is just that after holding him for more than an hour I just want some alone time. I would have another cat but haven't found one I like yet. OH AND HE IS CUTE, HE'S ORANGE WITH WHITE SWIRLS AND EVEN THOUGH HE'S A AVERAGE WEIGHT CAT HE'S GOT THESE CHUBBY CHEEKS!!

My kids play with him when they get home after school/daycare and I play with him once they have gone to bed. He gets plenty of attention but I am gone from 8 am until 6 pm so maybe that is the problem.

Also, my cat hasn't gotten neutered yet. But he is soon because I'm worried about upcoming spraying if there would be any.

He's just bonded to you and he's showing you he loves you. If he doesn't have anyone else to play with you're it. If you need some space put him in another room for awhile.

As far as when you sleep, if you really have a problem with the cat cuddled up so close to you then close the bedroom door and not allow him in with you.
The best answer to this question is get him a friend, especially if you live alone. Right now you are his everything, the one he depends on for food, companionship, affection and love. If you get him another kitten to buddy around with then he will have someone else there. It would be especially good for him when you are away during the day at work. Imagine if you were locked up in a house all day by yourself.
My vet told me if you can’t get him a friend then get him lots of interactive toys. One of the best things I ever got my cat was one of those round rings that has a ball in the track. The cat can chase it around and around and the ball moves all by itself. You might also want to try putting a ball with a bell in it on a string and hanging it off the edge of a table, that way he can bat it around and it will move back and forth for him (just be careful the string isn't to long that it may wrap around his neck)
I used to leave the radio playing for my cat when I went to work; I always thought I was kind of strange for doing that but my vet said that it actually helps the cat to feel less lonely. Also my vet said that I should provide a "seat" by an uncovered window so my cat can sit and watch the goings on outside while I was at work. It's amazing how uninteresting the human in the house becomes when there is a bird with a nest in the tree in the front yard ...LOL
Hope some of this will work for you.

Ah, just put up with it... If you want some free time, dump her in a special cat bed next to you. If she keeps getting up on you, keep putting her in the special cat bed. Eventually she will understand that when you want some space, she needs to be in the cat bed. And since the cat bed is near you it should be okay.
Eventually you should be able to train her to go into the cat bed at night too.
At least your cat wont get as big as my dog... he's almost as big as I am! My dog does the same thing, so I make sure to make time for him all the time so that he feels the love coming from me that he gives to me.

He loves you and probably misses his mother. Try and be patient and give the kitty some love...I know you do already.. as for the space, close the door now and then if you really need space..just remember he really loves you and does not know he is bugging you. You are his life and he looks forward to seeing you all the time. We ge to go out and look forward to other things, cats don't have that, they only have us.

Cats seem to know when you dont like them or dont want them about and will come then but if you want them there they take off.
Maybe you need to get another cat for him. Has he been desexed, maybe he thinks your his special friend!!! Shove him under the blankets when hes on you at night, he'll ge sick of that and go away. He sounds really cute.

I would get some kind of toy for him. There are some that you hang on the door knob and it keeps my cat busy for awhile. Also, there are things you can buy, I think they're called cat trees. Cats can climb, scratch, and bat around the attached toys.

cats do something for a reason. know your cat hes telling you something. sounds like he needs some attention.. what is cat toys going to do if no one plays with them with the cat? try being more affectionate and see how that goes.
good luck

Get him a buddy to play with so he won't be so dependent on you for affection; another cat or a small dog. Pets are like potato chips you can't have just one.
