No it's good for your metabolism in that all caffeine products increase your metabolism thereby burning more calories. However it is dehydrating, so be sure to drink plenty of water. Good luck with your caffeine diet!

I don't know if it hurts your metabolism, but one thing I'm sure of is that if I don't have at the least one every morning, I GET A F....ING HEADACHE. I've been drinking coffee for 50 years, My teeth are not stained and I'm as healthy as any other Joe my age.

Well, yes - too much of anything is no good. Coffee speeds your metabolism and if you drink a lot of coffee for too long, you body may greatly reduce it's own ability to speed the metabolism and get lazy on it's own.
Peace!

Coffee is a very harmful drink it causes an increase of acid in the stomach which can cause ulcers. and acid reflux . It also causes kidney damage and bladder problems. Then add to that the caffeine which can cause heart problems as well as reducing you metabolism, causing a short term peak and then a long term low.

Personally I think that coffee has gotten a bad rap from many.
I can't imagine a world without a Tim Horton's drive thru or a starbuck. Many friends have gathered around a cup of doffe and pondered lifes challenges. Many sweethearts have shared a cup on the first date. Many couples sit side by side on the couch in their flannel housecoats watching American Idol. I ask you... where would we be with out it. Worry will kill you faster then coffee ! Enjoy !

I think it depends what you put in it. I drank starbucks frappuccinos at least 3 times a wk for a month and gained about 7 pounds. Once i quit, I began to lose weight a lot easier. But black coffee shouldn't do too much damage. Take every you eat and drink in moderation.

Yes, it can. It's very bad for you.. Drinking coffee results in an increase of the heart rate of the drinker, increased blood flow to the muscles, and an increase in blood pressure and it causes a decrease in blood flow to the skin and to the inner organs. Most importantly for many drinkers, the level of dopamine in the brain increases.
