Elephants have a particularly thick skin,
which protects them from most scratches and bites

They are also very large , their height helps them,
to avoid close encounters with attacking animals .

A wise predator , leaves an elephant alone,
as elephants run in close family groups and will attack when threatened .
they will use their huge bulk and massive hooves , if they need ,to trample and crush an attacker.

Elephants have an extremely versatile , sensitive and long trunk ,
Which allows them to browse,
on high up ,shoots and choice vegetation ,
above the sharp protective barbs of the trees .

Their thick, tough, wrinkly hide. Have you ever seen an elephant hide? They are so big, it isn't easy, but they can hide if they have to. If they paint their toenails red, they can hide in a strawberry patch.
