In Spanish "americano" is everyone who's from the Americas, the whole continent. I guess the use of it depends on the country, but it's not the most common way to call an American (from the US).
Somebody from the USA is "estadounidense" (male or female).
It could also be "norteamericano/a" (although geographically this would also include Canadians and Mexicans, the word it's used mainly for the people from the US).

For Caucasian Americans they say Gringo or Gabacho Both mean foreigner, or outsider, the same as extranjero

In Spain, Americans (amerikanos) are people who live in all continent of America, from Alaska(in the north) to Tierre del Fuego(in the south). The same as Asians, Africans in their continent Asia and Africa. You see, not only Japanese have the right to say " We are Asians, because they are the richest country in Asia. Everybody from Asian continent, it doesn't matter from where can call himself Asian.
People living in US(except the Indians,/the Natives) are reffered to as "los estadounidenses" literarry means the United Statesians, You will never hear the word "American president" (presidente amerikano) because if we say "American president" that means (s)he can govern the whole continent( so many countries from Canada to Brazil).to me that makes more sense, because the people in US are not the only ones living in this continent. They should not be too selfish. They are not the only ones who have the right to call themselves Americans. Everybody else also.
Good question.

Your teacher should be ashamed.

Your teacher is trying to get you to accept a demeaning term for American.

How do you say "Mexican" in Spanish?

Mexicano.

Americans are Americans. If Spanish speakers want to say "Americano" that's fine.

Why would they get to change our name? Would it be correct for us to demand that they call themselves "Beaners"?

Be American.

Be proud.

with the intention to renowned no rely in case you ought to use "estaba" or "estuvo", you ought to comb up on your tenses. right this is the version: you utilize the preterite stressful, subsequently "estuvo", while the action has a diverse initiating and end. case in point, in case you will possibly be able to desire to alter, "Katrina grow to be right here from 2 until eventually 4 pm", then you definately might use estuvo. you utilize the imperfect stressful while there is not any longer a clean initiating and/or end, generally to declare "used to ____". So the remarkable sentence may be the two, Katrina estaba aquí. -OR- Katrina estuvo aquí. do no longer forget approximately your accessory mark :)
