They love it because they can't reach there to scratch...they appreciate your help :)

When I scratch my cat above his tail he'll sort of sqwat down and start walking, it is sort of funny. But he'll purr and meow all crazy when I do it. I just get a kick out of it. I think it feels good to them.

My cat is a male and he does this too.

I agree....I think it's because they can't reach that spot. My cat starts licking the air in a semi-cirlce when I do it....craziest thing you've ever seen....freaks my husband out!

I do believe it's because you have hit "the spot". my cats do it also. for some reason they love being scrathed there....most cats do
