I got Chaco about 2 weeks ago and he's about 4 months old.

When I'm home alone with Chaco and need to shower or use the bathroom, he just comes in with me cuz he always follows me everywhere. I'm a little worried tho, cuz he gets scared when I go in the shower and leave outside alone. He always wants to come in, so I started showering with the door open so he could see me to give him some ease. Now, EVERYTIME I shower (which is everyday), he wants to come inside. Is this normal/OK? I'm just worried he will get sick or he's too young, or that his skin will get dry. Any advise?

My maltese puppy does this too. You are your puppy's new mommy/daddy and he wants to be with you all of the time. This is the first time that he has ever been away from his mom or littermates, so he's worried. What I do is put a bunch of toys on the bathroom floor to try to keep my Lacey quiet and occupied and whenever she is being quiet and not jumping on the door or trying to climb in, I talk to her and tell her that she is being a good girl. When he starts to catch on that the shower is only for a few minutes and that you'll be right back, he'll start to understand that you aren't deserting him. He is just attached to you. Good luck, I know that it can be a bit annoying.

When my dog was a puppy he wantd to follow me everywhere too. Just make sure if you are letting him in the shower he's not getting any water up his nose, and you are not using shampoo's on him everyday, it will dry out his skin and wash away oils needed in his coat. But other than that I think its fine, when I first brought my puppy to the groomer he was already used to water, and I got a call from the groomer telling me it was the best dog that she has ever delt with and she loved him to death!

My blind 11 year old chihuahua LOVES anything to do with water. She gets in the shower and swims in the pond I have in the yard. I was concerned about her skin too, but the vet said that if you're not using shampoo, just being wet doesn't bother their skin at all. The good news is that she likes the blow dryer too. I say let your little guy be with you wherever he's comfortable with!

Do you mean INSIDE the shower?? Or just in the room? I don't know about being in the shower, but my dog loves to come into the bathroom when I shower because it gets warm and he takes a nap.

My two dogs follow me everywhere. I go into the bathroom and they sit outside the shower and wait for me. I wouldn't let him get in with you but to sit in the bathroom while you are in he shower is ok. My dogs do the same thing. If I don't let them in they just sit there and cry. Good Luck.

my sister's chihuahua did the same thing. and it never bother the pet. she did not use any shampoos or soap so all that happen was the chihuahua got wet. as long as it is warm[room] and it gets dry completely then there is no harm. l do not know why but a lot of chihuahua are known to do that.

Oh he is spoiled. What could be wrong with keeping him clean? If his skin starts to dry out just buy some oatmeal shampoo for him.

I don't see why there would be anything wrong with it. Just let him in and let him get wet. His skin should be fine unless you wash him every day too. Then his skin might get dry.
