ok i broke up with my boyfriend a couple days ago. the reason i broke up with him was because he was so annoying and i was getting sick of it. he would always poke me and stuff like that. my ? is: is it wrong that i broke up with him just for that? he told my brother that the only reason he is so annoying is because he is an only child. that is the only reason i feel bad though.

Yep, that sounds like an only child to me. Most people, when they are an only child, have trouble being in certain social situations. It's probably the first time he has had a close relationship with someone his own age, and that is the best way he naturally knows how to deal with it. Give him another chance if you want. You never know, once he gets the point and stops treating you like a pin-cushion, it may be a great relationship.

Until you are married (or maybe if you have a child together), you can leave someone for any reason. It doesn't make sense to stay with someone because you feel guilty. If he annoys you, then end it. Think - do you want to be with someone who uses being an only child for the excuse for bad behavior?

If you don't enjoy the time you spend with him, that's reason enough to break up with him.
What you should have done is explained to him WHY you were upset, and why you found his habits so annoying. Then you should have given him the option to change. Maybe he would have been able to restrain himself, if he knew it otherwise meant losing you.
And his being an only child might be a REASON for his annoying habits, but it does not EXCUSE it - if it makes you unhappy, he should try to stop.

haha i once broke up with a guy because he was annoying too... he was clingy and his accent ended up getting on my nerves when at first it was sexy...
anywho that's not the point.
i dont think you should be with someone whom you are not comfortable around. i mean you probably could have told him stop poking me it really bothers me and had a civilized conversation. but in the end it comes down to how much you are willing to talk to him and whether or not he is willing to adapt more un-annoying ways for you. ....
and if he KNOWS he is annoying.... uhh that's kinda weird usually it comes as a shock to people....

If he was annoying, you did the right thing. Never pity-date, you deserve better. You did him a favor by unleashing his poking self on the dating world and opening up a chance for both of you to find a better match!

If he's annoying, being an only child has nothing to do with it. If you weren't happy with him, then it's fine that you broke up with him.

before you broke up with him did you discuss the issue with him? did you let him know what was bothering you? did you give him a chance to change his annoying habits? if so and he continued to annoy you without trying then yes you did what was best for you... if you didn't even give the guy a chance the the guy never even stood a chance and you should have said something before you called it quits.
