you need to remember how dogs think. he is playing with his toy and you want to take it. why should he give it up? as much as we want dogs to do things for us because they should, their brains just don't work that way. dogs do what works for THEM! he wants to keep his toy so he is going to do what he can to hold on to it. the best thing to do is teach him "drop it." when he has his toy, get a treat that you know he will like better. say "drop it" and stick the treat on his nose. when he drops it, you get the toy, he gets the treat. repeat over and over until he doesn't need the treat on his nose to drop it. i know this seems like you are bribing him, but it makes the most sense. he isn't going to want to give up his toy for nothing, and really why should he. give him a good reason and he'll be happy to!

I have several friends with yorkies, and several of those have two or three... Every one has told me that this breed is as "dumb as a sack of rocks".... one guy has yet to get any of his to even sit, and stay, and they have been in obedience training!!!!! Sorry, hon. Never owned one of those, for the reasons my friends said.... not too much luck in training... Happily, they aren't very big, so whatever you really want out of them you can get it..... like taking the toy away... one way is to offer them a a treat, and as he eats that, take the toy, but not really what you want.... you really want him to just drop it when requested, right?

well first of all why is it so bad that he is playing with his toys, hes probably teething so its good, if he is chewing up his toys then there are obviously not good enough quality for puppy teeth to chew on which are a lot weaker than adult teeth.

try buying the puppy KONG
