I don't know if this is being ridicoulous. But I was wondering, I never really drink milk, and i've had sort of like issues with milk and milk products my whole life. So, I had cookies and milk today, and I got a horrible stomach ache, and I was wondering, if anyone like, maybe, idk. Could I be lactose intolerant?

Just for the record MILK ALLERGY and LACTOSE INTOLERANCE are two different things. A milk allergy is an immune response to what the body perceives as a foreign/bad substance and works to rid the body of it (with generally negative results for the person). Lactose intolerance is when your body doesn't produce enough or any of the Lactic enzyme in the colon.

With the reaction you have described you could be either allergic or intolerant, it would depend on the timing of your reaction and whether there is a true immune response. I would advise you to go to your doctor and get it checked out. In the mean time avoid milk and milk products. While an intolerance can cause painful symptoms an allergy could be fatal.

Yes, you are probably lactose intolerant, but you are in luck. With all the Soy Milks and Rice Milks and Almond Milks out there today, you won't be suffering like you are now.

Yes, very possible. I drink Lactaid milk (100% lactose free) and take lactulose pills whenever I want to eat raw-ish dairy, such as sour cream, cottage cheese, etc. I'm pretty good with aged cheese so I don't need it then.

You'll want to ask for the test to be sure, at some point. But I wouldn't head to the doc for this specifically. Just try the lactose-free diet and see how the stomach and intestines feel.

It certainly sounds like you have an intolerance to milk products. I too have the same problem. I have found some over the counter remedies like Lactaid Ultra help quite a bit if you can remember to take them with dairy products.

Yes you are probably lactose intolerant.

The thing is, that humans are not made to drink cow's milk. Baby cow's are made to drink cow's milk. Humans drink human mother's milk. You wouldn't give a baby cow milk from a woman's breast. It would make them sick and they wouldn't get the nutrients they need to grow. Same thing here. Besides, they add so many hormones to cow's milk...it would make you sick if you read all about it. Try soy or rice milk. They make them in different flavors.

I was lactose intollerant for years, and couldnt have dairy. Last year a friend told me about raw milk which I get from my local food co op. It turns out I couldnt tolerate commercial milk because it has so many toxins and pesticide residues in it. I do fine on raw
