That is wrong - you have to inform the children's parent of any other animal or adult that will be in the presence of your child, and you would be in serious trouble if they found out you had been withholiding this information. I would question the childminders morals, and if I found out that I had not been informed of a pet being under the care of the childminder, I would not hesitate in removing my child from their care and informing other parents - I would tell all parents in the area about the childminders lies and deciet, so I doubt that they would have much buisness in the area. I'm sure most parents would feel this way. Children are prescious, and someone who is willing to conceal a fact like having a dog obviously does not have the childrens best interests at heart and should not be a child minder.

All childminders need to be registered with Ofsted.Ofsted need to know if there are any animals in the house.[such as dogs]If this childminder has animals in the house without Ofsted knowing she/he is not sticking to their registration agreement,as some animals may pose as a health problem to some children. It states in the childminding national standards 7.5 that; The childminder ensures that any animals on the premises are safe to be in the proximity of children and do not pose a health risk.Surely any responsible childminder would inform a parent? How can the parent not know they have a dog in the house?

Against all childminding terms and conditions I would think. The overall consensus is that you cannot look after a dog without the parents knowledge.
This can be such as disaster for you and the child who may be allergic, not to mention if the dog were to bite the child.
How would you be able to explain that!

I think childminders have a duty to tell any parents whose kids they are looking after, about any animals that may be in the house. I would take my child away from this childminder and report her to the council.

I think its bang out of order! If I left my child with a childminder, one of the first things I would ask is if they have a dog. If they didn't disclose the fact that they looked after dogs I would see it as they have deceived me, therefore aren't trustworthy.
Not everyone minds their kids being around dogs, but it's the parents' choice, not the childminders'.

What?I thought it said child-minders not dog-minders.And considering the way there's been so much dogs mugging children in England nowadays i would be careful not to leave my children with anyone with a dog not even a puppy, irrespective of the one being even my Mom.
