this isn't really important but thought it was kinda funny in a way...

i work with a kid with red hair and freckles and he kinda makes fun of people who come into the shop and want a shamrock. "why does everyone with 2% irish blood think that makes them irish enough to get a shamrock tattoo?" he's mostly joking but we get a good laugh out of it.

i think the idea behind getting your tattoo is awesome. you're adopted and this is a reminder of who you are and where you come from. it beats all those people who come into the shop and want to get a shamrock cuz they have a couple orange armpit hairs. atleast you thought about it. heh, anyway, just a personal note of advice here, maybe you should get something more than a shamrock. you really shouldn't care what other people think, but incase you're worried about having something a lot of other people have, perhaps get a custom drawing done by a good tattoo artist of a shamrock and some other things incorporated into it that also represents your heritage and maybe who you are today as well. i think that would be way more interesting then just one small shamrock. however, it's your decision, and maybe you're not big on huge tattoos, i dunno. if you're worried about it getting in the way of getting a job, basically get it anywhere that your clothes cover. like your upper arm (bicep), shoulder blade, calf...etc. you mentioned back, that's cool i think, if you like it. anyway good luck with whatever decision you make.

Well, I am a man with 2 four leaf clover tats. I was thinking about adding some shamrocks to the mix.

Edit: Saw your additional comment. I agree 100% Heritage is important. I am having a bad a.ss claddagh designed for one of my future tats.

I think it would be pretty awesome, but then I'm part Irish, very open minded, and I love tattoos on guys. ;) Though for maximum impact I'd suggest upper arm - you can still cover it with a shirt for job interviews and such.

If I were you, I'd ask some close female friends for their opinions as well- they should be able to help you decide if it's a good fit for you personally.

DEFINITELY! Don't let what others think dictate what you want to do to your body! I think that's a great idea. Also, somewhere on your shoulder or back (between shoulder blades maybe?) would be a good place because even with short sleeves, you wouldn't see it. Go for it! You have but one life ;)

you are 98% irish? how do you figure that? 98 of your last 100 grand parents were irish??? wow!
if that is what you want then you should get it. shamrocks are neither masculine nor feminine. you could get it anywhere you feel that it would look good. as far as job prospects go you should avoid your arms to be safe but anywhere else should be fine. good luck on whatever you decide!!

I think its a good tattoo for you because of your heratige. My friend is Irish and he has a really nice celtic shamrock smack dab in the middle of his back and it looks AWESOME.

If you like it and you want it, then go get it done. Good places to get it, upper arm, the middle of your back, chest. All easy to hide and easy to show.

i think that sounds kinda weird 2 put a shamrock on a guy but if u really truly want 1... i think it should go on the back of 1 of ur legs. that sounds like a weird place but i find that place to be a good tattoo spot, and it wont interfere w/ jobs bc you'll be wearing pants. you, will wear pants right??? lol, just kidding!

Good Luck

Well its not stupid but i think the best tattoo is a Jesus Cross if your gonna get one. i think good places for tattoos on a guy is on their upper arm like on the shoulder or between the shoulder blades . Eagle wings look good on a guys shoulder blades especially if you have a muscular back.

It wouldn't be bad.
I don't know about location, but long as it was hideable, it'd be okay.
It shows that you're passionate about your heritage.
