My sister has bought a cellphone for her daughter who is 7yrs old, I can see the safety side of this...my niece has rung me from her class like 3 times, dont know how many others she has rung. I have argued with my sis about this...it could be dangerous? to no avail...is she putting her daughters life at risk?

I think the kid should have those new cells for children that only connect to the mom and dad, basically emergency numbers.

She is looking at the safety side of this. The child can use it in case of an emergency, and with the way things have been going lately there is not telling when an emergency might occur. However, your sister should explain to your niece about when she should use the phone and if she can't abide by those set of rules then the phone should be taken away.

My 11 yr old who doesn't talk on the house phone wants a cell. She just wants it for the popularity. They are not allowed in her school so no one would even know she has one. I really think a 7 year old with a cell phone is not very bright. When is she ever in a situation to use it.

It makes no sense to me at all. I'm a mom of 3. My kids will not get a cell phone until they drive. Why???? They will not be in a situation where there will not be somebody who has a phone. It's just a popularity thing.

Way too young the child education is far more important then having interferring parents ring while at school. Teenagers yes i can understand keeping track on that age group.

tell her to get the Disney mobile phone where she can limit her daughter on when she can call and cant call plus i think it has a locater on it.
