currently I need an extra $5,000 to buy a car from a private seller.
How would I go to doing this? I've never took out a loan before so I'm not sure of the procedure. I just need the money temporaily and hopefully when I get my taxes back I'll be able to pay a decent amount of it back.
I can't seem to find a site that would give me $5,000 for a 12 month payment period. I don't like to have a long payment period. Any help is appreciated

or get the loan over a longer period of time and maybe higher amount and get one with no penalties for early pay off. then with the money you have pay it directly to the loan.

You are trying to do something that credit and loans were not set up to do. The only reason that the bank will loan to a buyer of a car dealer is because the deal is in business. If the buyer default the dealer gets the car back and sells it again. This is a security blanket for a bank. Without it the bank will not loan the money. Just wait and get the money from your taxes, put it in your bank account and then borrow the $5,000 on a signature loan. You can select 12 months or 24 months.

The account balance will act as collateral.

You can always pay off your loan early. Take out a longer term loan and just pay it off with larger payments. Usually car loans do not have prepayment penalties.

For a good listing of loans look at www.bankrate.com.

just go to your loan officer at the bank and explain that to them and they should be able to help you...or maybe the seller would sell it to you and not give you the title until you pay for it. You could make some arrangements with him/her it all depends on if they will work with you or not or if they need the cash now. Good luck....
