Drinking coffee washes off calcium of your bones and makes them fragile...true or false ?

The answer is true.
Coffee doesn't "wash off" the calcium on your bones. The caffeine in coffee and sodas not only inhibit the absorption of calcium, but can also deplete the calcium in your bones. It is suggested to drink no more than 1 caffeinated drink per day for this reason.

I love coffee! But had to stop drinking it because it set off my acid reflux. But then, I was having a hard time staying awake at work without the caffeine so I started drinking Diet Coke. A few months ago, I got a good water filter pitcher and decided to bring my own water (in thermos with ice so it stays cool all day) to work and stopped doing Coke (yeah). I would once in a while have a cup of instant decaf coffee at home at night when I was cold (I'm not a tea person and couldn't think of anything else I wanted to drink but coffee--cause you can sometimes put Bailey's or Amaretto or something else in it) but really haven't had any coffee in years. The last Saturday, because my work schedule got completely wrecked the week before and I was only getting maybe 3 hours of sleep a night all week, I was having problems staying awake so cleaned the pot (which doesn't ever get done) and made coffee, used the Half & Half too (something else I don't do since I've been trying to cut down on unnecessary calories). Oh, man, it was deeeeeee-licious! And I didn't get a stomach ache either. I don't know if it was because the pot got clean, or because of the cream but now I'm ready to go back to drinking coffee a whole lot more often and just saw a "study" that you should drink 5 cups of coffee a day to stave off cancer (don't ask me how that works and I would never be able to drink 5 cups. But it is nice to know that the occasional cup of coffee isn't going to hurt.

You are partially right.
1) The caffine in coffee affects your body's abillity to absorb calcium. Obviously this depends on how much coffee you drink. The occasional coffee won't have a substantial affect and actually is now healthy for you (they have now discovered antioxidents in coffee).
2) Serious coffee drinkers tend to rely on it for their fluid intake and don't get the recommended daily amount of calcium from milk or other souces.
If you are a daily coffee drinker, female, and are planning to have children, definately see you doctor about a calcium supplement. Even if you are not planning to have children, still see your doc if you are female, as we are at higher risk for osteopsorosis.

Probably false. If that was true, you wouldn't have any teeth left because they're made of calcium themselves.

yes it does the high amounts of caffeine leaches calcium from your bones. So does excessive amounts of protein....i.e. Milk. So choose soy milk its better for your heart, its not full of hormones and its low in fat.

Yes, it is true. Coffee is bad for you if you drink it consistently.

I've never heard that--but I have heard that drinking carbonated beverages does so.
