I went for my birthday a few years ago and it was fun. You don't need any kind of license to fire a .22 caliber rifle in NYC. You have to be 18+ and it's $50. They give you a safety course first if you've never been there before and 50 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition. The website has more info.
