Because they want people to believe that you HAVE to be a member of that particular religion in order to be peaceful, loving, charitable, and have any hope whatsoever.

"Peace, love, charity, hope" as "ordinary human concepts" are very different than the beliefs taught in the Bible.

For instance, Jesus said:
John 14:26-27
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
(from New International Version)

This is not peace with the world but peace with God, a peace which comes only to those who know that their sins are forgiven and they are now God's beloved children.
That is NOT what ordinary human concepts mean by "peace".

"Love" and "charity" are the same word in the Bible. But in ordinary human concepts, they are far different.

"Hope" to us is an ABSOLUTE ASSURANCE, and has nothing to do with "wishing" something as ordinary human concepts mean to say.

As even politicians say, "The devil is in the details".

We don't all understand these things. If you study history and culture you will quickly find out that selfishness, abuse, and generally taking advantage of others has been the norm in almost every society.

Slavery was an anomaly in the US and racism is alive and well all over the world. Today we have genocides that could be prevented, diseases that could be wiped off the planet, and enough food to feed everyone on the planet. I don't see a great number of people working to fix these things and I don't see these tragedies making the news.

Ask a foreigner from a poor country where the learned English. It is almost guaranteed that they learned it from a Christian.
