My 96 ford mustang did not pass inspection because my HEADLAMP MOUNTING BROKEN. I've called around and the mounting costs about as much as the light itself. Can I do this repair myself? I only have 14 days left to get it fixed. I tried to take the whole light out myself, but I was afraid to break something. I don't want to put too much money into this old car...But I NEED to get it done? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I heard that going to a salvage yard is so much cheaper, but I have no idea what Im doing. My headlight are all yellow anyway.. so replacing them would be nice, but costly.

call around to local salvage yards they are less than half the price compared to the dealer.asfar as your headhlight goes you have to go under the car grab the bulb fastner that goes into your headlight housing and turn a quarter turn it will pull out.than just take out old bulb ,repeat the process to put back in.

In the back of the headlamp assy you will see were the light is connected just twist off the connector and light falls out reconnect wiring to new light bulb and reinstall its really easy if you cant do it take it to auto zone, advance auto parts, napa etc they install for free.
