It will make no difference on a long time comparison. A cubic ft. of wood will produce the same amount of CO2 weather u bury it or burn it. The problem u have failed to consider is that plants recycle the air and is like food to the plants so they will increase to take care of the CO2 ,long term or short time.

It is better to not do either of the above with trash because there is too many different substances in trash to safely burn it and use of landfills generates environmental problems for years if not centuries. The best thing to do is process trash into raw material and then determine the best use for the raw material.

Sending it to a landfill. Burning it will put more Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere which is a dangerous thing. The best thing you can do however, is to recycle as much as you can of it.

It is better to send your garbage to a landfill in most situations as burning your garbage requires an incenerator to do it properly. Not all places have an incenerator and not all garbage can be incenerated.

All in all its better to send your garbage to a sanitary landfill where they can handle all types of waste and contain it from leaching into the environment. As it has been mentioned methane if the landfill is large enough can be removed and used as a fuel.

I hope this helps

Send it to a landfill, they know how to process it there (in most states). In some states they can even extract methane or energy from landfills, or recycle and reuse trash.

Depends on the materials that is being burned. Its good for disposal of biological waste but a cause for concern for incerneration of inorganic materials (styrofoam, rubber, plastics) because emission of gaseous pollutants.

Waste materials that are organic in nature, such as plant material, food scraps, and paper products, can be recycled and therefore do not required being burned.

Either way, both methods ok.
