I'm trying to buy a TV from Circuit City and was wondering if anyone has had any experience getting them to come down on their prices. I know they said they don't work on commission.

Oh yeah, they will come down on price! Pick a time when they are not very busy, usually a Tuesday or a Wednesday, go when there are few customers in the store and not near a holiday. Find prices from competing stores and bring the ads with you but don't pull them out at first, talk to them a bit, ask about certain products and compare them, If you start adding items they will come down on the total price or throw in something for free such as a stand for a large TV, DVD player etc. They will also match the prices and guarantee that no one will beat that price for I think 90 days. Good Luck

Given the competition from online retailers and the economic environment, it's doubtful that brick & mortar retailers will raise prices. Keeping prices down and driving them even lower isn't as good as you think it is. Unfortunately, most consumers don't quite understand the dynamics of the economy. No, I'm not an expert either but I do know this: We're in a downward spiral. Because people are concerned about the economy and what the future holds for their employment, they have been cutting back on buying. Well, by doing that they are contributing to the poor state of the economy as retailers, wholesalers and manufacturer's will have to lay people off or close shop. Those lost jobs, and the lost purchasing power those people have, will come back to haunt those people who stopped spending and caused those job losses. Also, the

A lot of times if you purchase the Circuit City advantage plan then will be more flexible with the price b/c that "cca" makes the store look good. They have to hit budget in that category. Also they will lower the price on any open box tv b/c they want to get rid of those tvs to make room for new more expensive ones. So if you feel comfortable go after one of the OB ones and buy cca on it and i'm positive they will work with you on the price. Or if you want a new one and dont want to purchase cca just print of an online store price that will be much lower..even though they dont match online prices you can ask what can they do b/c you really want this tv and they should work with you...

Also if you want delivery just tell them they offer free delivery on the Circuit City website and they will take that out of the price also, giving you free delivery

Definitely yes. Especially if you bring a competitors price with you. They will always beat that price. Even if you don't you can still negotiate. Especially if you buy more stuff like cables, surge protector, wall mount, warranty, etc. You'll need these things anyway so you should buy them all at once. The more you spend the more they will bring down the final price.

You sound like my mother! Everywhere she goes if something is expensive she assumes that the price is negotiable! Lol...
Try talking to the sales person and they may be able to tell you when to come back for the sales or they can give you their discount!

I don't think they can bring the price down but i know they can Skipp charging taxes, my mom was able to get a refrigerator w/ out paying the taxes

I bought a HDTV in 2005 and I negotiated. The salesman talked to the manager and he went down a few hundred dollars and I got the stand thrown in. How much of the negotiating with the manager was BS, I don't know, but I got it for less.

You can usually negotiate for free delivery or price matches from other stores. Do it at a quiet time when not much is going on and don't be a "prick" about it. It's usually up the the salesman if he wants the hassle.

sometimes you can best bet is to wait for the end of the month like 3 days before its over (because if you wait till the last day they may have already hit quota or be so far behind that it wont make a difference) in that time frame they may just need your sale to make quota. But over all do it on a week day so people wont see that you need a discount personally I think its embarrassing to ask for a discount

If you have another store's flyer on hand, the store will beat the other store's sale price. Sometimes, you can upgrade a TV if the store doesnt have your particular one in stock. Usually you have to have a friend on the inside to get you a good deal.

Do your shopping at Best Buy and Circut city, see what they have and then find an electronics store that has sales people where you can negotiate price.

The stores with sales people can beat Circut city and best buy hands down!
