Before using anything on your baby, take her to the doctor for a diagnosis and then follow the doctor's orders!

Why take chances with your toddler's health?

Cortisone creams can be dangerous if used for the wrong purpose and can cause allergic reactions.

If her pediatrician has deemed it sever enough (though unlikely) and has prescribed a steroid cream for her, then yes... but ONLY if the prescription is made to HER.

I'd stay away from OTC medications, especially steroid creams, because a child's skin is very sensitive, and the cortisone will (if used in excess) will break down the skin and its pigments in time.

Otherwise, the best treatment for eczema for a child would be... moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Don't use baby lotions. They may smell pretty, but many baby lotions are alcohol-based, and will defeat the purpose of moisturization.

Use petroleum based products, like Vaseline or Aquaphor. A little will go a long way. Use three times a day and especially after baths. Try not to scrub at the spot during baths, either.

Do NOT use cortisone cream on a child that young unless a physician advises you to. You need to bathe the child infrequently....maybe once every other day, if that. Be careful if you're using a bubble bath that might add to the dryness of the baby's skin. Then use a cream like Baby Aveeno. Rub it all over the little one. My daughter had some eczema issues.....none since changing the routine to the one above. Never use cortisone unless directed to. Your baby will thank you.

I would be very careful with this. If that is some type of fungal infection......as in ringworm, the cortisone cream with make it worse...........big time worse. Consider taking her to a doctor. Best of luck to you.
