I am looking for another bank to be with. I am already with a credit union-which is a great bank....but they only have branches that are about 3 hours from me-and no ATM's anywhere near campus (which leaves me with a fee everytime I want to withdraw money). I was looking at Bank Of America since they have a free student checking account and ATM's on campus. What do you think?

BOA definitely; that's who I went with in college and you are always going to see their check card excepted and atm locations all over!

Most all banks have a special account for students.....I don't know where you're located and what you have available in your area, but when choosing a bank you should always ask yourself.....what can this bank do for me that others cannot? And, is this bank convenient (location and ATM's)?
Bank of America is a good bank, but I'm more than sure that if you were to get a loan, the chances of BOA giving you a better deal than your current bank, (credit union) the chances are unlikely.
If all you need in a bank is to desposit and withdraw money, without charging (choosing an account that doesn't), than Bank Of America is a good bank.

The university credit union is usually the best. Barring that, smaller chains like Bank of the West are the next best shot (lower minimums, fees, etc.). BofA, Citi, WaMuand the other large ones are difficult to deal with. In college you want minimum balances and fees and maximum interest and access, and good customer service. The only way a larger chain is worth it is if you live off campus and right near a branch. Stick to the smaller guys if you can.

BOA is okay only if it's convient...usually they have too many fees and stuff and they tend to be a little harsh with people who don't have great credit

another good one is Wells Fargo, they have a pretty nice college student checking account, and their check cards are accepted just about everywhere.
