Aside from boiling it in the plastic it comes in I prefer to pre heat an oven to about 180 (gas mark 5) and take the plastic off the haggis, place it in an oven proof dish, pop lid on and cook for about 70-90 mins. You'll know it's cooked when it starts to 'collapse'.

Empty it into a microwaveble dish and nuke it until it's hot all the way through - WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T NUKE IT IN IT'S SKIN!!!

You can bake it, tastes nice, some bits go crispy and if you do boil it make sure you don't 'boil it', it should only ever be cooked at a simmer.

Nuking is by far the easiest and quickest and still with great results.

I'm off to do mine now! Enjoy

Yes,well you have had some reasonable answers, but on the boiling side you really should drop the little fella into COLD water first then bring up the heat SLOWLY.This has the beneficial effect of lulling the little blighter to sleep gently-and MOST IMPORTANTLY - humanely.-In short he will die in his sleep- and TASTE a whole lot better.Hope this helps.Love The R.S.P.C.H.!!

A sheep's paunch
Liver, heart and tongue of a sheep
1/2 lb. suet
2 lg. onions
1/2 lb. oatmeal
1/2 tsp. powdered herbs
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Wash paunch and soak overnight in cold salted water. Wash the liver, heart and tongue and boil in salted water for 2 hours. Then cut in pieces, removing gristle and skin, and mince. Mince the suet and onions and toast the oatmeal to a golden brown. Mix all together, adding salt, pepper and herbs, moisten with water which the paunch was boiled in. Fill the bag two-thirds full of mixture and sew up. Prick over with a darning needle to prevent bursting. Place haggis in boiling water and boil for 3 hours. Serve with mashed potatoes and turnips.

Well you need to put it in a pan with water, bring to the boil and then simmer but most come with cooking instructions anyway.

It can be fatty but if you get a good quality one it shouldn't be too bad.

Just remember the neeps and tatties!

just boil it in water for 20 mins or so remember to put a hole in the plastic wrapping or it will explode.

You are asking if it is high in fat. It's a SCOTTISH dish, what does that tell you?
