You should be able to look at a variety of headstones and get quotes in your area. The price range varies depending on what you get.
We got one for my mother in 2000 and it was over a thousand dollars but it is beautiful. I had a lighthouse put on the back with a poem I wrote for her. Then an actual picture of her is on the front. It is a double head stone that will also be used when my father passes away.

It all depends on the stone you pick out. My brothers and I bought one a few years ago for my Dad and it cost $1800. It wasn't huge or glorious but it wasn't tiny either.
