If he/she's the love of your life, you shouldn't have to be getting over her. One of my favorite sayings is:
No one person is worth your tears,
and the one that is would never make you cry.

Step 1: Consider the fact that there are over 6 billion people in the world.
Step 2: Make a rough estimate as to how many of those you have met. What, a few tens of thousands maybe?
Step 3: Realize that, given points 1 and 2, there is probably *another* "love of your life" out there somewhere.
Step 4: Start looking for her.

I agree with BECS. You don't...you never will. I dated someone when I was 19 until I was 21. It was only about a year and a 1/2 and he moved away. He asked me to go with him and I couldn't. I felt like I was too young. He was 24 at the time. I kick myself in the butt everytime I think about him. I should have gone. He was the love of my life and he will always be. I'm 38 now and I still have never forgotten about him. The way he touched me, the way he kissed me...etc. I will always hold a candle for him. I just got married and about a month before the wedding I was so tempted to call him. We kept in touch for a long time after he moved away. But I stopped when he got married and had a kid. I didn't think it was fair. So, you'll never forget the love of your life...you just move on. People change. Memories are forever. Just don't let them hold you back.

The problem is not getting over it, it is realizing you certainly can have more than one. Face the facts, there are 3 BILLION people on this planet. If you could only possibly be compatible with 1/10th of 1% of them, that leaves 3 MILLION chances for love. But, lets suppose, half those are too old or too young, and half are of the wrong sex, that leaves only 750,000 possible loves. Do you really think this chick that dumped you was the only one? Come on.

Well it is going to be a painful journey that will last for a month after that month it will become less tolerable. As usual find things to do get a good book. Books can take you mind off to another place, keep yourself busy granted you will still think about her but it won't be as bad just tell yourself it will be over soon. Mark the days on your calender, it's kinda like being a virgin and having horny spells they get through it they keep busy and find constructive things to do. You have to much on this planet to do than to sit ant let this person occupy most of your time. Good luck.

This is not an easy thing. You need to focus on you. We've all travelled this road numerous of times and it all hurts the same. Time does heal all wounds but you have to make it work. Pamper yourself, do some volunteer work, etc., get yourself active in something. Enjoy life until the right love comes in.

You need to create a diversion for yourself. Go to a book store and by some new books on things youv'e always been interested in. Try getting a pet or volunteering at a shelter. Doing something good for others will help you to feel better. Work out at a gym, hang out with people who will support you and make you feel better. Remember we all have gone through it and it hurts like hell but it will get better. It is hard to believe right now but something good will come out of this break-up. Focus on becoming a better person for yourself. Just hang on you'll make it, I promise!

If it's the love of your life, you'll never get over them. The love of your life is the person you end up with. So get over them with the mindset that they are not the love of your life, that'll make things easier.

Sadly, you've just got to try to go on about your life. Eventually, with time, you'll start to slowly forget things about her. Unfortunately, you'll never get over her completely, seeing as she's the love of your life and all, but you can always move on.

Well it's not easy first you must admit to yourself it's over. Keep yourself busy and try to stay away because you always fall weak when you see the other person. If you are not strong than maybe you should seek professional help. Good Luck
