He recently broke up with his girlfriend (3 weeks ago) and he knows i like him...he says he likes me but he is afraid of asking me out because he thinks i will say no to him or stop liking him, and i'm not sure if he is right or wrong because i might get a little embarassed if i go out with him.

well i think that if you want to go out with him that badly than you should ask him out first it's ok the guy will know that you are bold and he will also know know that you want him now!!!!! u go grrl!!

try being friends girl. just friends. he just got out of a relationship. he more than likely knows that he's not ready yet ... and by jumping into something with you this soon ... it'll be over as quickly as it began. be patient and be his friend. stop pressuring him. if its meant to happen, you'll both feel good about it ... not embarassed!

He doesnt want to get hurt again or lose some one he cares about again take it slow untill your both ready to move on other wise pushing something always ends bad
