I am not a Catholic either, but I do believe the Scripture, and try to live the way Jesus taught. I would just mention that Jesus was not baptised as an infant. In fact there is never an occasion in scripture where a child is baptised. It would not really make logical sense either. As an adult, or young adult, we can chose for ourselves, and we understand what we are doing. One should be certain that the baptism lines up with the bible also... Just a thought. The sprinkling baptism was never practised in the bible either, Jesus taught to be immersed... In a spiritual sense, Baptims simply symbolizes being completely immersed in the will of God. Sprinkling would suggest that we not willing for the whole thing, but just a part.... Just some thoughts.

It makes absolutely no sense to have your child baptized in the Catholic Church if neither you or your wife is a practicing Catholic.
What are you going to say when the priest ask you if you promise to raise the child in the Catholic faith?

Matthew 28:19 & 20a: " Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU.
Notice that it says to make disciples, followers...one has to be of the age to make that decision on their own. It is an outward sign of a personal dedication that one makes when they have gained accurate knowledge of God and Jesus want to serve God in truth from that point forward.
John 17:3: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
Baptism has to be a personal choice. Let your daughter learn first what the Bible really teaches before you do any thing. If she then wants to get baptized, let it be for the right reason. The once saved always saved teaching is not Biblical.
Here is a link to some really great info about baptism. Please read it.

You could also request a free Bible study for yourselves and your daughter. You can use your own Bible and you might really be surprised at the truth you will learn from God's Word. Here is the link for the request form...

1) ASAP
2) Why do you wish to have her baptized in the Catholic Church if neither of you is a practicing Catholic?
3) Difficult? No. But some promises will have to be made and you and the Godparents must be willing to make...and KEEP them.

According to the Bible baptism is for those who have become believers ( Matthew 28:19, 20) Has your daughter received a Bible education? Does she want to get Baptized?
I got this book for my kids "My book of Bible Stories" It is a great basic Bible story book that puts the Bible in Chronological order. I Got another one called "Learning From the great Teacher" It tells the lessons that Jesus taught. If you are interested in either of Both, please let me know.

That is a personal choice for your family to make. We just had our kids of 22,16 and 10 baptised. We went with Episcopal because it is easier. That is just English Catholic. I didn't want them to have to go to classes for six months. I just wanted it taken care of.

While baptizing her yourself is fine, baptism by water has no saving power in itself. What really matters is being reborn in Christ. I'd recommend letting her make the decision to be baptized when she's old enough to understand what it means.

baptism is nothing but a symbol, there is nothing mystical or magical about it, it doesnt get you to heaven. does your daughter believe in jesus christ, ask her when she feels she is ready and make sure she is a real believer in christ and has asked christ to come in her life and forgive her sins. the mode of baptism is not all that important but if you want to stick to the bible, baptize actually means to immerse, get a full immersion but its your choice, christ is the only thing important here.

Why would you want your child baptised in a church that you don't participate in?

Wait till she's old enough to make that decision for herself. The water doesn't save, it's the answer of a good conscience to God.
