I don't think so. Its an antiquated notion from my standpoint. But let me know what you think, if a exclusive relationship between a man and a woman is still a realistic option.

I wrote a blog dedicated to this topic to expand on my thoughts. If you are curious check out my profile for the link.

Its a personal choice...I was in a 13 year marriage and was completely loyal. We broke up for different reasons, but while together we were only with each other. Now I am not in a single relationship again, but am upfront when I date that I don't want serious relationships...so it is a realistic option in our times but it is also a personal choice so it can go either way. Personally if I ever fall in love again I will be monogamous, but until then I'm enjoying myself and just having fun.

One thing though, I'm a firm believer if your not going to be with only one person then you should be upfront about it and not lie...not telling someone this can be very hurtful and isn't right.

yes iti s indeed possible. i have cheated onm someone in the past, it ended hte relationship pretty quickly and i'm thankful for it. i take that to mean i wasn't trulyin love with him, adn i now knowthat i am not. i am in a commited relationship now and i could never see myself doing that again. i can't see into hte future but i do believe we will be happy together forever. as of right now (a year and a half into the relationship) we have been through A LOT and have made it through with our relationship being even stronger. not everyone finds the right person, that's why monogamy is more rare now. there's a lot of people in this world!

it doesn't work for everyone but for a lot of peopel it still does.

I want to be a believer. Good queston though! Now i personally think monogamy is possible, because its relationship btwn man and a woman and noone else. Now mind you if you dogged for your first 20 -30 years of your life and then you became to conclusion that you want to settle down with only one person then sure it is possible. That is why people go out when they are younger, see new things, experience stuff on their own instead of someones expereince before they engage in monogamus relationship and commitment. Its absolutely possible. Its called true love, but of course with mature experienced people, because that when what i mentioned about comes into play.

It is very real and going on in MANY marriages.
My Husband and I are Christians and I think that helps us. We live by the Bible and we are only to have sex when married to someone.

We have been married for 7 years but have only been Christians for 2 years. Now that we are Christians our marriage is so much better in every way.

I also know that if I ever were to cheat ( I wouldn't) that I would have God to answer to.. I never want to have to explain that.

Time dependent monogamy is fine with me (while in relation it is not OK to cheat, and when love fades, well...just kiss and say goodbye might be a fair solution)

I think it depends on the love in the relationship. If your not satisfied, but genuinely love that person then you won't cheat. I'm monogamous in my relationship. First of all, I love who I'm with and I'm very picky about who I have sex with. Also, I'm too lazy to give a shhh about another broad, let alone mess up my relationship over someone i barely know.

Well I think it all lies in that person you have people who have old-fashioned views such as me and my mate we come from that back ground and up bringing and it works for us. But you have some people that don't go for it and have reasons and alternatives for such a life-style whatever makes you happy! It's kinda like asking do you think racism is necessary? I mean come on. You can go on forever and everyone has their views, opinions, facts, and delusions. Whatever! Peace.

I've been with the same guy for over five years and though we have gone through our hard times, I would never disrespect our relationship to cheat on him. If you don't have feelings for someone then just leave, no need to hurt you or the other.

Poligamy is antiquated. Monogomy replaced it when men started wanting to know which children were theirs and with whom.
