i know this is long, but please read it, i could really use some help!i was diagnosed with an eating dissorder last year, and was sent to the hospital for five months. i have been out since july, and have been living on a liquid diet(5 cans ensure plus, 4 bottles of water)from the advice of my docter. Now she is telling me that since i have gradually lost weight from july, that i must make up my mind about treatment(i really, really dont want to get better!). i have a choise of staying here(nova scotia) and going threw outpatients treatment(i have already tried, and failed) or i can move to toronto to live in there childrens hospital untill they beleve i am better. my parents wont let me go back to the iwk, because of our experience there(very bad, did not help me, kicked me saying i was going to die in two days, thank goodness i didn't!) she said that toronto has a very good treatment center(bettet then here), but i havejust started to make friends in highschool, idk what i should do?

i think that you need a new doctor.

i used to work as a therapist for people with eating disorders AND i used to have an eating disorder myself. i can honestly say that I have NEVER heard of any reputable doctor who would actually recommend that you live off of a liquid diet for any period of time

the most important thing that you need to do is to NOT GIVE UP. it's possible to get better. it really, really, really is. I developed my eating disorder when I was 9 and I had a heart attack when I was 17. I was 5'9" and 63 pounds. I was hospitalized 14 times - 6 treatment centers kicked me out because I was too sick. And guess what? I am 100% better. I am so happy and healthy. I am so lucky to be alive. So it IS definitely possible to get better. My struggle really made me want to help others, so I worked for a few years at a hospital for people with eating disorders and while working there I saw so many people get better. It's a long struggle, but it's possible to get better. You just have to want it

In your question you said that you don't want to get better. If you don't want to get better, you're not going to get better. YOU have to want it. No hospital, no doctor, no one at all, can make you better unless YOU want it. But once you DO want it, it's possible.

Good luck
