If you get your GED you have a high school diploma in your hands. You can go on to college if you decide not to join the Navy. Although, it would be smarter if you stayed in school, join ROTC and see if military life is for you. If you don't like ROTC, then you will know military is not for you and you will still be in school. If you do like ROTC. Graduate from school and ROTC. You will be able to go into the Navy as an officer.

You can't do both. You can leave and join the Navy or stay in school. You have to make a choice.
A GED is the equivalent of a High Scool diploma. You can leave school when you are 16 with your parent's permission in the state of NY. I don't know what state you are in. Do a google search on GEDs and find out the acceptable age to be dismissed from HS in your state. THEN get your GED BEFORE you apply for The Navy which should take up some time..you are too young to join the navy..I think you have to be 18 to join. Also, I think you need a HS diploma or a GED for the Navy to even consider you. Good luck.

GED laws differ in every state. Where I am, you have to be out of school, with a letter from the school verifying it, for six months if you are 17. If you are 18, it doesn't matter.

Stay in school, the Navy might not be allowing "nongrad GEDs" to enlist when you try...

You won't need to. Do you just want to go back to hang with your friends? Why not just finish school like normal, the Navy will always be there. You can't go in until you are 17 anyway. You can join the delayed entry program, but you can't actually go to bootcamp until after your 17th birthday. And even then you need to have your parents sign also.

I joined when I was 17 too, but I was finished with high school.

Getting your GED is almost the same as getting a high school diploma.
