Question is kind of silly to even ask... kind of sillier to answer it. However, I belong to a Southern Baptist Church (one of the biggest in the country) and while I've heard a few sermons and know that the denomination frowns upon drinking (to the point of forbidding it for the deacons and elders), I cannot agree on those grounds.

I feel it's pretty clear from a biblical standpoint, or even from a worldly standpoint, one shouldn't drink with the soul purpose of getting drunk. And if someone wants to argue that, look at the 50,000 deaths annual from drunk driving and never mind the ODs who just die from alcohol period... or fetal deaths from alcohol... we could continue on endlessly.

Myself, I drink a couple times a year... and if that, it's a single glass of wine. And while I agree I'm conservative and there's nothing wrong having a little more then that, drinking for the buzz or the purpose of being drunk is unnecessary and it doesn't matter if you an atheist or a Christian on that note.

I am a 55 year old atheist and have never drank alcohol.

All of the drunks I know are all Christian. Maybe way too much alchohol causes people to turn to Christianity who knows?

i'm sorry you went by this type of complicated time. At this component on your existence, what you elect maximum is aperson who emphathises with you and is extremely in touch for you. i'm a Christian and to your desires, the OT is rather difficult analyzing. I advise you ought to study the hot testomony. in spite of the undeniable fact that, enable me upload that frequently human beings tend to be enormously judgemental, irrespective of their faith and that i'm alongside with Christians in this. in case you study the NT you will discover that Jesus spent greater time in Bethany than in Bethlehem and interior the business enterprise of people who're reported as socially marginalised. So why no longer attempt Christ instead of pinning your faith on human beings.
