Last night, me and 8 other guys held a bible study and REALLY got into God. It was amazing. I was speaking in tongues and prophecying over the lives of my friends. The power was incredible. I was on my face before God.

Can logic explain that?

If so, from whose point of view is it explained?

Did you know that you can expierience God?

"i also hope when you say prophecying that you are referring to quoting scriptures and not assuming you know the future or have received a word from god. "

Heh. No. It was a word from God.

What can make a 26 year old man fall to his face and cry when he had been a Christian for 15 years?

It's called supernatural for a reason.

no,logic can't explain what you had experience.that's between you and God.i received the baptism of the Holy Spirit also.i did speak in tongues and until now i'm still practicing.nobody can explain if someone infilled with the power of the Holy Spirit. It's amazing and Oh! so awesome.even in my quiet time (prayer) i feel the presence of God and then i start to speak in tongues.Don't you know that speaking in tongues is a gift from God and you have to practice it.Pray also for interpretation so that other believers who hear you will understand it.Speaking in tongues when interpreted can edify the "Church".
i am sure many of our brethren wants to experience the infilling of the Holy Spirit (speaking in tongues).God bless my friend, keep up the good work!

I can speak in tongues and I'm an atheist. Sorry, it's not a drop 'em down and drag 'em out proof.

No subjective experience is. How can you deal on that basis with a sincere Muslim or Buddhist who is equally convinced by *their* experience (ecstatic, mystic or otherwise...) but then comes to a different conclusion than you do?
No, feelings alone, however powerful or uplifting to the individual, don't help that much.

The whole thing *can* be approached from the point of view of brain chemistry (search for "Dr Michael Persinger" and his work on brain stimulation which can produce religious or mystical experiences in most individuals). Whether that is *all* that is going on does require further debate.

Yes, logic can explain it. Since it's logic, it's not subjective (as in 'whoever's point of view'); it's objective. By stimulating certain parts of the brain, we can induce a religious experience. But let's not stop there. You had a wonderful religious experience: now ask yourself, do people of other religions also have them? How about the ancient Kelts, Vikings, Greek, Romans, Egyptians etc? A common theme in many religions is trance. It doesn't make sense to me that only *your* trance is supernatural, while every other religion just happens to be the brain entering a state of trance.

Yes, and I have, thank God. The Western- European system of thought is based largely on Aristotelian logic, which states that A cannot be A and not-A at the same time. Anyone acquainted with the Bible has to accept, if not be comfortable with paradoxes. Logic is pitifully inadequate for explaining the things of the Spirit. Keep on keeping on!

God is a spirit, The trilogy is God, the daddy, Jesus, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Since when do Xians care about logic?

It is simple hysteria, no magic and no god required. Read a book sometime, it might help. Education is power and the sooner you drop your ridiculous mythology and get into the real world the better.

sorry friend, if you werent speaking a known language you were speaking jibberish, i also hope when you say prophecying that you are referring to quoting scriptures and not assuming you know the future or have received a word from god.

It's called hysteria-it releases endorphines and adrenalin into the blood stream so religionists get a natural high that they confuse with a mystical experience.
