Since the US is so big, and there is so much demand supply pricing in the equation, the average doesn't tell you much.
I was in Sacramento and SF last week, and it's pushing $3 there.
In the midwest, it's $2 or lower. In DC (today) $2.45.
Grades vary widely, too, from 87 to 93 octane, which can kick the price another 10%.

The average price per gallon is around $2.10 in the USA..
It is selling for around $2.02 at most stations here in Houston TX.
In Britian and in most of Europe, you pay a LOT of tax on fuel...

Here...let me give you all the tools you need to monitor US prices. All the above answers are probably right, BUT you can dial this # and get the price of both gasoline and diesel fuel in all parts of the U.S....try this....The U.S. Department of Energy Fuel Index....at (202) 586-6966. The index is adjusted every Monday for different parts of the U.S. This will help you from now on.....Have fun........

Where I live a gallon of regular is about $2.10 today. We are vastly overpaying the tax man so at your prices I'd say you are too.

Its about $2.23 a gallon here this week. That's a national average though. It can go up or down depending on where you live due to different local taxes.

In Ohio, it's averaging about $2.00 a gallon.
Oh, and ahugaabear? If you don't like it here in America, why not go home to your beloved homeland and quit razzing on mine?
