Rotate his toys. Put down a new batch every week or so. Purchase a Kong and lodge those treats in there till they are VERY stuck. That'll keep him busy for a bit.

There are also videos avialable that capture your dogs attention, you can loop it throughout the day.

Exercise him at least 30 min - 1 hour every day. Tired and exercised dogs are more relaxed.

Teach your dog relaxation techniques. At all times in the house keep him in down. When he gets up to follow you, or barks or anything immediately put him in down. Eventually he'll start associating laying down with barking, etc. It worked wonderfully for my English Setter.

Good Luck

Take your dog for a nice long fast paced walk, if you can go jogging with your dog or teach him to run on his leash along side you on a bike. This will get him to expell a lot of energy draining and pent up fustrations. When you leave the house don't make a fuss, and if he starts to bark as you aproach the door correct him and make him go lay down.

Make sure he has lots of toys and food and water.

Also ensure he is not being antagonized by other animals and people.

One thing that worked really well with my puppy is we bought him this ball that you put treats inside. The ball rolls around and every once in a while a treat falls out. They are sort of hard to get out so it keeps the dog entertained for quite a while. They sell them at walmart for $9 cdn. I think it is called tricky treats.

if its a puppy leave a load ticking clock as this reminds them of there mother heart beat if not leave an item of your clothing as the smell will make her think your still there and keep her relaxed also spend about 5 Min's be for you leave and when you get back to remind her you will come back. you could also try cuddly toys that are fairly the same size as your dog as this will make her think shes in a pack Gd Luk if this doesn't help try speaking to a vet as they would be more than happy to help.

If he barks a lot...like neighbors are complaining, you can talk to your vet about giving him medication to relax him. We used to give our dog benadryl during thunder storms because he would go crazy.

The other techniques people are mentioning are more for if your dog is barking because he is bored. In that case then those methods will work, but if he is really getting nervous about something then I'd go with the medicine.

what i would do is make sure that he has food and water. then i would make sure that he goes outside before u leave for work. make sure that he has lots of toys laying on the floor. then make sure that there is something so ur dog can recognize that u didn't leave. u could leave the radio on low or the tv that seems to help them. it also helps no tto get into things that they shouldn't.

rub a pillow on you so it gets your scent, then put it in the dogs bed or where they are most often. they will feel like you are with them.
