Yes. But I'm still not sure about some sort of afterlife. I haven't made up my mind about that yet.

Obviously we don't *all* know it; even if you argue that many theists know deep down, there's no way all of them do.

It doesn't make more sense than the theist claim that atheists don't really exist.

Edit: gummy, again? OK, then:

Pascal's wager:

"If god exists, it's infinitely better to believe, since you get heaven instead of hell for eternity. If he doesn't, it doesn't matter since you're dead anyway. So overall it's better to believe"

This is, of course, false.

Some of the problems with the argument:

* The implied assumption that god may exist (with a 50% probability, no less!)

* The assumption that there is an afterlife with a heaven and hell

* The assumption that the god cares about belief in him/her above all else

* The assumption that if you believe in a god, it will definitely be the same god that actually exists.

* The assumption that you lose nothing if it's false. You have lost a great deal, from time praying to a nonexistent entity (somebody mentioned just today praying several hours a day!!!) to morality (your god may ask you to hurt other people) and much more besides.

* The assumption that people can believe in something simply because it benefits them. Would you believe goblins exist for twenty bucks? Why not?

* The assumption that any god won't see through the "believing just to get into heaven" ploy.

Most religion is man-made, But God made Heaven & Hell and we all will experience one or the other some day.
Man O Man, it's just not worth the risk to keep on denying Him.
The bible says the road to Heaven is narrow and only few will enter but the road to Hell is wide and many will go there. How Sad!

Maybe but we don't "go" to either one while we are alive. Hell is the common grave of mankind. Heaven is a place of spirit that flesh cannot enter into. You have to be re-born as a spirit creature to enter if you believe that. So, the point that Heaven and Hell might be man made are moot and the facts will prove themselves eventually.

I'm assuming that by religion is manmade, you mean that religious practices are man's interperatation of the divine, and therefore created by them.

If that is the case we've already assumed that nobody has "the answers" So therefore we couldn't possibly have the answers with reguards to heaven and hell.

Unfortunately I can't give you answers simply more questions. What are your thoughts on the concept of the soul? Do you believe that it is possible for life to simply ciece to exhist? Are religions built on something that is real? Do you believe that all actions have consiquence?

Somewhere in those answers is your answer, or at least as close as anyone can come to one.

YOU think all religion is man-made. However, there are very many people who would not wish to be included in your particular philosophy...

Heaven and Hell are as real as you and me I hope you figure that out before it's too late or you'll find yourself in the lesser of the two. God loves you accept him.
