The technical and legal anwer.. no.. The realistic answer..most likely, yes.

Most stores do not even check ID when it comes to credit cards. If they do check it, and they see the same last name, they may or may not allow the charge .. its up to them. Most store owners are smart to realize that kids use their parents credit cards all the time.

No, you are not allowed to use your mother's credit card. Signing your name to the bill will force the credit card to reject the claim from teh store because you are not an authorized user of the card. If you sign her name instead of yours, you not only commiting fraud, but it possibly could be labelled as identity theft.

Basically, you're breaking the law by doing that and your mother is violating her contract with the credit card company. If it totally blows up in your faces, the credit card company has the right to cancel her credit card outright.

No, you really should not use it. If your mom wants you to be an authorized user on the account, she can get you your own card with your name on it. It won't make you liable for the debt, but then you will be signing your own name.
Alternatively, what my mom did for me when I was 16 was open up a secured credit card for me to help me build my credit rating.
