After the initial shock I think our lives would be much easier. People would opt for wood stoves and fireplaces. They would rediscover how to keep food cold and younger people in their 20's and 30's would learn how to cann and dry food. Everyone would own a dairy cow and maybe raise beef and pork.
You have to think...we are long overdue for this to happen. I learned how to can last year and am going to try my hand at canning meat this year. If the electric goes out or is no more than all of our hard earned money won't go down the drain.
Also, I think that family time would be more of a priority. Right now, I play with my daughter a couple of times a week. I think that even though she loves sports. No tv or radio or PS2 for that matter, would make her want to be with her friends more.
I don't really think it would be a bad thing. We need to get back to the basics, folks.

The Amish and third world countries have gone without it for many, many centuries, and I'm sure as spoiled as we have become thru-out the past 100 plus years, there would be "some of us" who could manage somehow! We'd probably have to go to one of our Amish communities and get a crash course on this type of survival, but hey! look how well Melissa Gilbert turned out, and she had to do her schoolwork by candle light!!

I love candles - I would use them everywhere. However, I would miss watching movies. Global Warming is bad - lessen your carbon emissions!
