Yea... I would. They're peppy, reliable and have great gas mileage. When I got my license almost a year and a half ago, I had a Corolla, which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED!!!
But alas, tragedy struck when my sister's friend totalled it. Eventually, I got a RAV4... which is great... but I still miss my old Corolla.
My only advice would be to wait for a few months... there's going to be a replacement for the current generation...
trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

I have a 2003 Corolla, purchased new, with the 5-speed manual transmission, and it now has 49,000 miles on it. I've been very happy with it--it's had no mechanical troubles whatsoever. The 4 cylinder engine is peppy, and I typically get 38 mpg on the highway. The ride is comfortable, and the back seat is surprisingly roomy. I recommend the Corolla to you without reservation.

Corolla is a good car. Chevrolet/Geo Prism is the same car, just with Chevy badges. Parts are 100% interchangeable.
