Scientologists ACTUALLY believe the evil alien ruler Xenu killed a lot of aliens (Thetans) from around the universe by bringing them to earth & blowing them up inside volcanoes. They believe the souls of these aliens (these souls are "Body Thetans") have attached themselves to us & cause many of our mental & physical ills. Members who know about Xenu will attempt to deny it or pretend like it doesn’t matter. They are required to sign a contract binding them to silence on the matter. Lower level members don’t know about Xenu & accordingly deny everything because they honestly don’t know.

To rid ourselves of "Body Thetans" & also “engrams” (past negative experiences stored in our unconscious mind) so that we can become “clear”, we have to go through "auditing" with a member of the “church” who uses an "e-meter" to measure our “reactive mind”...... & we have to pay lots & lots of money for “auditing” (purchased in 12.5-hour blocks, costing anywhere from $750 for introductory sessions to between $8,000 & $9,000 for advanced sessions) & to take courses on Scientology to advance to higher “levels” in the “church”. The “church” has also taken a very hostile stance towards psychiatry & psychiatric drugs irrespective of the fact that some people require medication to remain adequately functional in everyday life. They deny the reality of chemical imbalance & profound mental disturbance & accordingly do NOTHING to effectively stabilize the dangerously unstable. The “church” has been known to withhold prescription pharmaceuticals from member (with deadly results).

Scientology is undeniably a cult. For more information on what a cult is & what their damaging effects are, please visit the link provided at the bottom of the sources. Just know that Scientology DOES qualify by meeting these 5 criteria:

(1) It uses psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate & retain its members. (2) It forms an elitist totalitarian society. (3) Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable & has charisma. (4) It believes 'the end justifies the means' in order to solicit funds & recruit people. (5) Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.

Well it looks like I am the only person qualified to answer your question so far.......
I am a Scientologist (for the past 36 years).
The best advice on becoming a Scientologist is to read some basic books. That way you can find out for yourself what it is and then decide whether it is something you want to pursue. That's why the books were written, to communicate the subject. The basic books also contain practical principles that you can use and apply in your life. Then you can observe for yourself.
To start with I recommend "Scientology Tha Fundementals of Thought" and " Scientology A New Slant on Life"
Also "Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health"
All written by L.Ron Hubbard.
These books are available in paperback. Also most local libraries will have copies.
Take your time. Make your own decisions.

Don't do it! I think even being an aetheist is better than being scientologist. You don't even know all there is to know about the religion until you get to a certain "level", and I guess by then you are so brainwashed you actually believe there is some Xenu god in outer space.

Once upon a time (75 million years ago to be more precise) there was an alien galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the planets in this part of the galaxy including our own planet Earth, except in those days it was called Teegeeack.

Now Xenu had a problem. All of the 76 planets he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of all the overpopulation so he had a plan.

Xenu took over complete control with the help of renegades to defeat the good people and the Loyal Officers. Then with the help of psychiatrists he called in billions of people for income tax inspections where they were instead given injections of alcohol and glycol mixed to paralyse them. Then they were put into space planes that looked exactly like DC8s (except they had rocket motors instead of propellers).

....Don't do it.

Kidding aside I checked it out last year. It is indeed a money maker. It's said that each person who joins eventually spends $500,000 because there is always a new"level" to strive for as if being an immortal spirit being (OT) is not enough. Those nasty little "engrams" keep popping up and it takes a lot of "auditing" to get rid of them. The sessions are "free" but a suggested "donation" is always expected. I only went to one session but they keep pestering me for over a year now. Seems like my money is important to them. Bottom line is that I have way more abilities and powers of my own that none of them will ever have. Shows the difference between truth(which is free) and fiction(which is expensive). They owe it all to Xemu(the alien) and Hubbard, who was himself kicked out before he died.

You go girl. Xenu, the alien head of the Galactic Confederation is ready to save you from those wicked thetans.

Seriously, they tried to recruit me once. I was foolish enough to enroll in one of their "courses" and found out that it's a phony money grab. But don't take my word. Google Scientology and read a few of the horror stories, then if you're still interested go for it.

I don't think there are any on here. By the way scientology is a cult out to steal your money. Thats why the teaches cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. And yes the stuff about aleins is true. I saw the proof on 60Minutes the news show.

Scientology is a made up "religion" that was invented in the 1950s by a science fiction writer. I and most people consider it a cult. They have hooked a few big fish- actors to be indoctrinated in their strange club.

scientology? you mean the religion L. Ron Hubbard created to try and get rich. He eve nsaid to a friend before inventing scientology: "The best way to det rich is to create a religion." So he did, and i'm betting that he wasn't the poorest guy in town when he died.

I think you have to go on national TV and jump up and down on furniture, or something.

Oh, and then donate all of your money to your local Reading Room.
